Job Title: Electro-Mechanical and Pneumatic Equipment Designer

Location: Omaha, Nebraska

Job Summary:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Electro-Mechanical and Pneumatic Equipment Designer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing and developing equipment that integrates mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems. This role involves using advanced design tools, engineering principles, and knowledge of manufacturing processes to create efficient, reliable, and innovative equipment solutions. The designer will collaborate closely with various teams to ensure designs meet technical specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and Development:
    • Conceptualize, design, and develop equipment that integrates electro-mechanical and pneumatic systems.
    • Create detailed 3D models, schematics, and technical drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, EPLAN).
    • Perform engineering calculations and simulations to ensure the performance, safety, and reliability of designs.
    • Select appropriate components and materials for electro-mechanical and pneumatic systems.
  2. System Integration:
    • Design and integrate control systems, including sensors, actuators, and PLCs, for automated equipment.
    • Develop wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and pneumatic schematics.
    • Collaborate with electrical engineers and control system specialists to ensure seamless integration of all system components.
  3. Prototyping and Testing:
    • Work with the prototyping team to build and test prototypes of designed equipment.
    • Conduct testing and validation of prototypes, including functional, safety, and performance tests.
    • Analyze test data and refine designs based on results.
  4. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to meet project requirements.
    • Communicate design concepts, progress, and challenges to stakeholders through presentations and design reviews.
  5. Documentation and Compliance:
    • Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, user manuals, and design reports.
    • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  6. Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay current with technological advancements in electro-mechanical and pneumatic systems.
    • Identify opportunities for improving existing equipment and processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in designing electro-mechanical and pneumatic equipment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and electrical design tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, EPLAN).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic principles.
  • Experience with control systems and automation, including PLC programming, is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts Yclearly.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and safety regulations.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with machine safety standards and risk assessment.
  • Project management experience.

Work Environment:

  • Office environment with occasional visits to manufacturing facilities and test labs.
  • May require occasional travel for meetings, site visits, equipment installations or customer support.
